Set up your firm

Five steps, about fifteen minutes. When you finish, Jubal knows where you practice, your letters come out on your letterhead, and your team can sign in.

About 15 minutesFor the owner or an adminWeb app or desktop app: the steps are the same.

Before you start

Have these to hand. You can come back for anything you don’t have yet.

  • The states you practice in, and your areas of law
  • Your letterhead as a Word file
  • Your team's work email addresses
  • Who pays: the billing owner and a card

Complete your firm profile

Open Firm, then Settings › General. Choose your jurisdiction and your practice areas. Jubal uses them to pick the right statutes, courts and drafting conventions without being told each time.

Firm › Settings › General. The jurisdiction decides which rules Jubal drafts to.Jubal Law · fictional firm and matters
Required · Get the state right

Your jurisdiction sets the courts and rules Jubal starts from. If you practice in more than one state, choose the one most of your work is in; each matter can name its own court.

Upload your letterhead

Under Firm › Settings › Letterhead, choose Upload letterhead and pick your firm's stationery as a Word file. Engagement letters, demand letters and correspondence then come out on your paper. Without it, drafts use plain pages.

Tip

Court filings never use letterhead. They follow the court's own caption and format, so you don't need a second file for them.

Invite your team

Open Team and choose Invite. For each person, enter their work email, then pick their role (what they can manage) and their seat (what they can do with Jubal).

  1. a.

They get an email invitation and accept it the first time they sign in, with that same address.

  2. b.

Someone whose email matches your firm's domain can also ask to join. You approve them under Firm › People.

Choose a plan for each working seat

Your billing owner opens Firm › Billing and picks Pro or Max for each working seat. Jubal's AI stays off until a plan is chosen; everything else (matters, uploads, organizing) works from day one.

On a free trial, your plan is already set for the trial, so this step waits until the trial ends.

Watch for

Auto usage is on from your first bill: a seat that runs low refills from the card on file, under a monthly ceiling the billing owner sets, with an email every time.

Back on Today, the Finish setting up Jubal card ticks off what you've done. Anything you want to leave for later has a Why? that explains it, and you can skip it for the whole firm.
